Program Overview

Spend a fun-filled weekend with the family surrounded by the charm of the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Great Camp Sagamore celebrates all kinds of family connections. Building on the success of our Grandparent & Grandchild Camp, we’ve created a welcoming space for families of every kind to come together and enjoy a shared experience. This two-night program is designed to offer something for everyone: kids, teens, and adults alike.

Enjoy a relaxed pace and a welcoming atmosphere in a National Historic Landmark brimming with history and heart. Throughout the weekend, enjoy music, nature-inspired art projects, swimming, canoeing, hiking, and plenty of outdoor fun. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or returning to make new memories, Family Camp is a chance to unplug, play, and simply enjoy time together.

Program Activities

  • Daily morning, afternoon and evening activities such as: nature hikes, paddling on Sagamore Lake, music and art sessions designed for all generations.

  • Daily “Kids Club” which is an hour in the afternoon where the whole family will get to hang with Sagamore’s program crew and play games, while grandparents get a chance to relax.

Program Instructors

Kim Sorensen - Program Manager

The Grandparent-Grandchild camp will be led by Sagamore’s Program Manager, Kim Sorensen, along with Sagamore’s talented staff of Environmental Educators. Together they will lead guided hikes, paddles, games, nature talks and much more. Kim believes in the value and importance of intergenerational bonds and loves to share her passion for the outdoors and the beauty of the Adirondacks with people of all ages and backgrounds.

GCS Outdoor Educators - Safety First

Camp should be fun, but also safe. Children attending camp are under the constant combined supervision of their grandparent(s), Sagamore’s talented and well-trained Outdoor Education staff and contracted Instructors, and Counselors in Training. Every resonable effort is made to accommodate the special needs and dietary restrictions of campers. All Sagamore staff are certified in CPR, adult and child first aid. Many are also wilderness first aid trained.
