In this partners program each pair will construct a
new cedar strip canoe. At the end of the week the
completed canoe will be taken home where final touches
of varnish and finish will be applied. We begin the
class with selection of strips and temporarily attach
them to the form. Once set they will be covered in
fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. When set up the
canoe will be taken off the form and the inside will
get the same treatment. This forms an extremely
tough and light weight hull. The decks and thwarts
are installed and the canoe is trimmed out, ready to
take home. Previous wood working skills help but are
not essential. Only the desire to complete the boat
and work with your partner is required. We will have
a busy week so a schedule must be kept and therefore
on site customers only please.

additional saving of 5+lb.
This is a demanding course in terms of time

and photographs from this course -- they will be able
to build their own skin-on-frame canoe, kayak or
rowboat.
Depending on the number of students, we will build one
or possibly two boats, which will be auctioned off at
the end of the class to interested students, with a
charge of $450, the cost of materials and the initial
